Privacy Policy
This page explains what data Care Toolkit collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and what rights you have under UK GDPR.
Last updated: May 2026.
Who we are
Care Toolkit is an independent UK-based information website operated as a sole-trader business. For the purposes of UK GDPR, the data controller is the operator of caretoolkit.co.uk, contactable via the contact page.
What data we collect
Care Toolkit's tools (calculators and checkers) run entirely in your browser. We do not store, transmit, or have access to any of the figures or answers you enter into our tools. Your data stays on your device.
However, like most websites, we do collect some standard information about how the site is used:
- Analytics data via Google Analytics, including your approximate location (country and region), the pages you visited, your device type, and how you found the site. IP addresses are anonymised before storage.
- Advertising data via Google AdSense, used to serve relevant ads and measure ad performance.
- Cookie consent preference, stored locally in your browser so we don't ask again on every visit.
None of this data identifies you personally to us, and we never sell or share it with third parties beyond the advertising and analytics providers listed below.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored on your device. We use them in two categories:
Essential cookies (always active): a single browser entry storing your cookie-consent choice. This isn't technically a "cookie" — it uses localStorage — but we mention it for transparency.
Optional cookies (only if you click "Accept"):
- Google Analytics 4 cookies (_ga, _ga_*) used to measure site usage
- Google AdSense and DoubleClick cookies used to serve and measure ads
If you click "Reject" on the cookie banner, no analytics or advertising scripts are loaded at all. You can change your choice later by clearing your browser data for this site.
Advertising partners
We use Google AdSense to serve display advertising. Google and its advertising partners (third-party vendors) may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
You can read about how Google uses data from sites or apps that use its services on Google's policy page: https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings: https://www.google.com/settings/ads — or for opt-out across many ad networks at https://www.aboutads.info and https://www.youronlinechoices.com/uk.
Affiliate links
Some pages may contain links to third-party services where Care Toolkit earns a commission if you sign up or make a purchase. These links are always clearly labelled. The commission does not change the price you pay, and we only recommend services we believe to be credible. Linking out to a third party is not an endorsement that they are right for your specific situation — always do your own research and seek regulated advice where appropriate.
Your rights under UK GDPR
You have the right to:
- Request access to any personal data we hold about you (in practice this is very limited as we don't collect identifying data)
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of data ("right to be forgotten")
- Object to processing, including for advertising purposes
- Withdraw consent for cookies at any time by clearing your browser data for caretoolkit.co.uk
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us via the contact page.
Data retention
Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months and then automatically deleted. We do not maintain any user database of our own.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top and, for significant changes, display a notice on the homepage.
